Requirements for Traveling to Bolivia and Visa Application

Bolivia, officially the Plurinational State of Bolivia, is a South American country located between Argentina, Peru, and Brazil. Foreign visitors to the country must obtain a visa through diplomatic missions or on arrival, except for countries to which Bolivia grants visa exemptions.

Bolivia is one of the South American countries where Turkish citizens can travel with a visa. General, special, service and diplomatic Turkish passport holders who will travel to Bolivia are exempt from visas for travels of up to 90 days. Those who wish to reside in Bolivia for more than 90 days must obtain a long-term visa and residence permit from the Bolivian Ankara Embassy.

What You Need to Go to Bolivia

Turkish citizens who submit the following documents upon arrival in Bolivia are granted an entry permit valid for up to 90 days. 

  • Turkish passport valid for at least 6 months
  • Book a return ticket from Bolivia
  • Confirmed hotel reservation
  • International yellow fever vaccination card
  • Financial resources such as bank statements, cash, etc.

Foreign visitors may be required to provide travel health insurance when entering Bolivia. Therefore, it is recommended that you obtain travel health insurance that covers the entire duration of your trip before you go to Bolivia. 

Bolivia Visa Application Procedure

Applications for Bolivia visas are accepted online and processed by the Bolivian Ankara Embassy. Foreigners who are citizens of countries subject to visas and reside in Turkey can apply for a visa online via the visas.cancilleria.gob.bo application platform.

Bolivia Visa on Arrival: The Plurinational State of Bolivia has a visa application for foreign visitors from certain countries at the border gates for a fee of $160. However, in order to avoid any problems at the airport, it is recommended to obtain a visa before traveling.

  • Passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival in Bolivia
  • Accommodation reservation or invitation written in Spanish
  • Book your return flight ticket
  • Last 3 months bank statement, other financial resources if any
  • Biometric photo of 4 x 4 cm size
  • Original and photocopy of yellow fever vaccination certificate
  • Photocopy of valid Turkish Republic residence permit
  • Consulate visa fee receipt
