Pakistan Online Visa Guide: Required Documents and Fees

In accordance with the visa policy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, all foreign nationals wishing to travel to Pakistan, with the exceptions granted according to nationality and passport type, must obtain a visa appropriate to the purpose of travel by applying to Pakistan’s foreign missions or the online visa system.

Pakistan requires visas from Foreign citizens holding ordinary passports. Foreign citizens holding diplomatic, service and special passports are exempt from obtaining a Pakistani visa for travels of less than 90 days.

Pakistan visa applications can be made online at visa.nadra.gov.pk as of February 1, 2021. Foreign citizens have the right to apply for a visa both online and on arrival for their travels to Pakistan. 

Pakistan Online Visa Application Procedures

Applications for all types of Pakistani visas (tourist, business, visit, work, student) are made online without going to the Pakistani Consulate. The Pakistani Embassy in Foreign countries and the Pakistani Consulate General in other countries do not accept visa applications directly.

To apply for a Pakistani visa online, the following steps must be followed. 

1. Register as a user on the e-visa website, then select the type of visa requested and, if necessary, select the Pakistani foreign mission where the visa interview will be held.
2. Fill out the online visa form under 6 different headings: application information, personal and family information, financial status and employment information, travel history and travel information.
3. Create a digital copy of all required documents according to the visa type you are applying for and upload it to the system.
4. At the last stage, pay the visa fee using a credit or debit card.
5. Depending on the type of visa applied for, tourist, business or visit Pakistani visas will be finalised within 7-10 business days; student, work or journalist visas will be finalised within 4-6 weeks and an electronic travel confirmation will be sent to your e-mail address. 

Important Reminder About Pakistan Gate Visa; Pakistan gate visa is only given for tourism and business travel. People who will travel to Pakistan for other purposes must apply for an e-visa in advance. 

Pakistan tourist visa is issued for a single entry period of 3 months and can be extended up to 6 months if necessary. Pakistan border visas are issued for a single entry period of 30 days. Other Pakistan visa validity periods may vary depending on the purpose of travel.

Documents Required for Pakistan Visa

The documents that need to be uploaded to the online application system for a Pakistani visa are listed below.

• Foreign passport with at least 6 months validity
• Current biometric photo
• Hotel reservation or sponsor invitation letter from Pakistan
• For trips to be made by tour; an invitation letter from an approved tour operator.
• Credit card (Mastercard or Visa Card) for visa fee payment

The documents listed above are standard Pakistan tourist visa documents. Additional supporting documents are required depending on the type of visa requested, the applicant’s age and employment status.

Pakistan visa fees vary depending on the purpose of travel, number of entries and exits, and duration of travel. In 2024, the Pakistan tourist visa and family visit visa application fee is $ 25, and the business visa fee is $ 100.

It is not mandatory to have travel health insurance for a Pakistan visa.
