Requirements for Traveling to Peru and Visa Procedures

Requirements for Traveling to Peru and Visa Procedures

Peru, officially the Republic of Peru, is a South American country located on the Pacific Ocean. Except for countries with visa exemptions, all foreign nationals traveling to Peru must obtain a visa through diplomatic missions.

The Republic of Peru is one of the Latin American countries where foreign citizens can travel without a visa. A visa exemption agreement was signed between Peru and Turkey on June 12, 2013. Within this scope, all Turkish citizens, regardless of passport type, are exempt from visas for touristic travels to Peru for 90 days.

For stays longer than 90 days in Peru for work, study, research or family reunification purposes, a visa appropriate for the purpose of travel must be obtained from Peruvian foreign missions.

Requirements for Visa-Free Entry to Peru

Peru Travel Essentials

The required entry documents for Turkish citizens to visit Peru for a maximum of 3 months are a Turkish passport valid for at least 6 months and a flight ticket reservation for return from Peru. In addition, it is recommended to have a valid international travel health insurance and an international yellow fever vaccination certificate for the duration of the trip to Peru.

Foreign nationals entering Peru may also be asked to provide proof of sufficient financial resources and accommodation documents. Therefore, it is recommended that an up-to-date personal bank statement and accommodation documents be prepared before traveling.

Peru Visa Application Procedure

The Republic of Peru does not have visa exemption agreements with most South Asian, African and Middle Eastern countries. Citizens of countries subject to Peruvian visas, such as Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, can obtain a Peruvian visa from Türkiye if they reside legally in our country.

For foreigners, Peru visa applications must be made to the Peruvian Embassy in Ankara with a valid Turkish residence permit and the required documents according to the visa type. Citizens of Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia can obtain a 3-month Peruvian tourist visa from the Embassy in Ankara without a Turkish residence permit, as there is no Peruvian foreign representative in their countries.

The Republic of Peru does not have an electronic visa or visa on arrival system, and all foreigners subject to a visa must obtain a visa before traveling to the country.
