Sierra Leone Online Visa Procedures and Required Documents

Sierra Leone, officially the Republic of Sierra Leone, is a West African country located on the Atlantic Ocean. The electronic visa system was introduced in 2020 to facilitate visa procedures for foreign nationals traveling to Sierra Leone.

Citizens of the Republic of Turkey who hold service, special and diplomatic passports going to Sierra Leone are exempt from visas for visits up to 90 days. Ordinary passport holders are required to obtain a Sierra Leone visa regardless of the duration of travel. 

Foreign visitors who will travel to Sierra Leone for tourism, business or private visits are granted a single or multiple entry 30-day visa. For Turkish citizens, visa applications can be made to the Sierra Leone Ankara Embassy or online at  evisa.sl .

Documents Required for Sierra Leone Visa

For Sierra Leone visa application, the following documents must be prepared. 

• Passport valid for at least 6 months after entry into the country (must contain 2 blank pages.)
• Current biometric photo
• Credit card for e-visa fee

Sierra Leone online visa applications are finalized within an average of 3 working days and the electronic visa is sent to the applicant by e-mail. Upon entry to the country, along with the e-visa; return ticket, hotel reservation and yellow fever vaccination certificate must be declared and fingerprints must be provided.

Sierra Leone E-Visa Fee

As of 2024, the Sierra Leone e-visa application fee is 80 USD and must be paid by credit card when applying online.
