    The Austrian visit visa is a short-term (C type) visa required by citizens of countries subject to a visa who wish to visit a family member, friend or relative residing in the Republic of Austria.

    With a family and friend visit visa, you can stay in Austria for a maximum of 90 days within 180 days and have free entry to other Schengen member countries. In order to obtain an Austria visit visa, the Schengen country where you will stay the longest or enter first in your travel plan must be Austria.

    Applications for a visa to visit Austrian family and friends are made to VFS Global centres in Turkey that are authorised for Austrian visa applications.

    VFS Global is an intermediary institution authorized to collect visa applications and forward them to foreign missions. The authority that evaluates and decides on your visa application is the Austrian Consulate General in Istanbul.

    For the Austrian family visit visa application, you must first fill out the Schengen visa application form and prepare the necessary visa documents. After you have prepared your application file completely, you must make a visa appointment at the intermediary institution application center. The information that must be included in the visa invitation should generally include the personal and address information of the inviting person, their relationship with the applicant, and information about the applicant's financial situation if they will cover the travel expenses.

    If the inviting person covers the applicant's travel expenses, he/she must issue an Austrian electronic undertaking declaration in addition to the Austrian visa invitation letter prepared in the appropriate format.
