Denmark Visa Application and Required Documents for Under 18s

A different process is followed for Denmark visa applications for persons under the age of 18 than the standard visa application stages, and the visa documents required for minors differ.

Visa application processes for people under the age of 18 are carried out by the person's parents. In addition to the standard documents, people under the age of 18 must also submit additional documents for their Denmark visa application process.

What are the Denmark Visa Documents for Minors Under 18?

In Denmark visa applications of minors, a passport belonging to the minor and a visa application form filled out and signed by the parent must be submitted together with a letter of consent and a sponsor's petition.

If a minor under the age of 18 is travelling to Denmark alone, with only one parent or legal guardian, a notarised document must be submitted showing that the parent or legal guardian has given permission for the travel, called a letter of consent. It is also possible to prove that the travelling parent has sole custody with a notarised document.

For persons under the age of 18 who apply for a Denmark visa, a sponsor must be found for travel expenses. A visa sponsorship petition prepared by the sponsor, which includes travel details and a commitment to cover the expenses, and financial evidence of the person who will sponsor must be submitted together with the visa application.

    Denmark Visa Consent for Children

For children, consent must be declared by filling out and signing the form prepared by the Danish Ministry of Immigration and Integration.

Since the content of the consent document may vary depending on whether the parents are divorced, deceased, living abroad, or similar situations, it is important to ensure that the consent document for the Danish visa is prepared in accordance with the personal situation of the applicant child.

Denmark Visa Photo for Babies and Children

The first thing to consider in a Denmark visa photo for babies and children is that only the child should be seen in the photo frame; a tool or person that the child is receiving support from and a toy that the child is holding in his/her hand should not be visible in the photo.

The photo should be taken on a plain background, preferably white, light blue or light grey, with appropriate lighting, and the child's face should be clearly visible. Glasses and similar accessories should not be used during the photo shoot, and if they are used, care should be taken to ensure that they do not cover the face and that there is no reflection. The photo should look straight at the camera, the facial expression should be neutral, and the pose should be with the mouth closed and the eyes open.

The photograph to be submitted for children's Denmark visa applications must comply with the Danish visa photo size and must be taken within the last 6 months to reflect the current appearance.

How to Get a Denmark Visa for Babies and Children?

Danish visa applications for infants and children must be made by their parents or a third party with power of attorney.

Since persons under the age of 18 cannot apply for a visa on their own, they must be accompanied by a person who is not a VFS Global employee during their application.

Do Children Need to Provide Fingerprints for a Denmark Visa?

Children under the age of 6 are not required to provide fingerprints and full biometric data when applying for a Danish visa; however, the applicant child must have a face scan at the application stage.
