Finnish Consulates Information and News
Finnish consulates are foreign missions that look after the commercial and diplomatic interests of their citizens. As missions of the Finnish state, the main task of honorary consulates is to protect the interests of Finnish citizens and those with long-term residence rights in Finland in the region where they are located, and to ensure their communication with local authorities and nearby main Finnish missions.
Finnish residence permit and visa procedures are not among the duties of Finnish honorary consulates.
Finland, a member of the European Union, has important commercial and diplomatic partnerships with Turkey, which it sees as key to its commercial and diplomatic relations with the Middle East. The declaration signed on 4 February 2015 announced the establishment of the Joint Economic and Trade Committee (ETOK/JETCO), which established important commercial ties between Finland and Turkey.
The only official Finnish representative in Turkey that carries out visa and residence permit procedures is the Embassy of Finland in Ankara.
