The Germany driver’s visa is a short-term (C type) visa that must be applied for when traveling to Germany by truck or bus for commercial purposes such as international freight or passenger transportation, or by private vehicle for private purposes.

A German driver’s visa can be issued for a maximum of 5 years. Drivers who have obtained a visa for Germany are granted the right to stay in Germany or other Schengen countries, provided that they do not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period.

What are the Application Documents for a Germany Driver Visa?

Germany driver visa application documents are listed below.

  • Germany driver visa application form : The Germany visa application form, which must be filled out completely and accurately by the applicant and whose 3rd and 4th pages must be signed, must be submitted. The visa application form can be filled out online or in printed form.
  • Passport : The applicant’s passport must be submitted, not older than 10 years, with 2 blank pages and valid for at least 3 months beyond the period of application for stay in Germany.
  • Biometric photo : One biometric photo of the applicant, not older than 6 months, with a white background and measuring 35 x 45 millimeters, must be added to the visa application file.
  • Travel health insurance : The original, stamped and signed photocopy of the applicant’s travel health insurance, which covers the entire period of the applicant’s stay in Germany, has a coverage of at least 30,000 Euros and is valid in the entire Schengen area, must be submitted.
  • Germany visa fee : The visa fee of 80 Euros must be paid to the relevant Idata office during the visa application.
  • Driver’s license : The applicant’s driver’s license valid for use in internationally must be presented.
  • SGK employment declaration : A legible and barcoded photocopy of the SGK employment declaration issued by the applicant’s company must be submitted.
  • SGK service record : The SGK service record document, which shows the visa applicant’s entire insurance history in detail, must be submitted.
  • Company activity certificate : A photocopy of the Chamber of Commerce registry record of the company where the applicant works and which is not older than 6 months must be submitted.
  • Partnership confirmation document : In case of a partnership between companies operating in Germany, the partnership confirmation document and signature circulars of both companies must be added to the visa application file.
  • Current tax plate : A photocopy of the tax plate of the company the applicant works for for the last year must be submitted.
  • C2 authorization document : The applicant’s transportation authorization document issued by the transportation company must be added to the visa application file.
  • Driver list : A list containing the information of the drivers employed by the transportation company must be submitted.
  • Vehicle list : A list showing all vehicles belonging to the transportation company must be submitted.
  • Company petition : A petition written by the company must be submitted, which includes the applicant’s name and surname, job description, details of the commercial relationship and a statement that travel expenses will be covered.
  • Documents showing commercial relationship with the German company : The CMR document and transit escort declaration (T1) of the last 5 transportation jobs showing the business relationship between the applicant’s company and the German company must be submitted.
  • Confirmation letter from a German company : If no transportation work has been done to Germany in the last year before the application date, a document showing that the planned new work has been confirmed by a German company must be submitted.
