German Consulate Ankara
The German consulate provides services at the ambassadorial level due to Ankara being the capital. The German Embassy was moved from Istanbul to Ankara in 1923 after Ankara was declared the capital.
The German Consulate General is located in Ankara, on Atatürk Boulevard, in the building between the Italian and US embassies. This campus also includes a service building, lodging areas and the ambassador’s residence. Martin Erdmann has been the German Ambassador to Ankara since August 2015.

Visa Application Procedures
The German Consulate General in Ankara does not accept individual visa applications. An intermediary institution (iDATA) has been appointed to collect and control visa documents.
Visa applications can be made to the German Consulate General in Ankara via electronic application form or by printing out this form and filling it out by hand.
If the application form is filled out incompletely or incorrectly, your visa request will be rejected.
Visa Appointment System
The German Consulate General in Ankara does not give appointments for individual visa applications. The Consulate examines the documents collected through its intermediary institution and decides on the application.
Since visa applications are made through the iDATA intermediary institution authorized by the German Consulate in Ankara, appointments are made through this institution.
However, the processes of preparing documents and making appointments can be complicated.
