Which Countries Are Exempt From New Zealand's Transit Visa?
New Zealand exempts the following countries from transit visas: Bahamas, Bermuda, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Federated States of Micronesia, Indonesia, Kiribati, Nauru, Palau, Panama, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Thailand, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu and Venezuela.

Do Turkish Citizens Need a New Zealand Transit Visa?
Turkish citizens do not need to obtain a New Zealand transit visa when travelling to Austria via New Zealand, if they have dual citizenship in one of the countries that New Zealand exempts from visas or transit visas, or if they are permanent residents of Australia; however, Turkish citizens who are not in any of these situations are required to obtain a transit visa when transiting New Zealand.
How to Apply for a Transit New Zealand Visa?
Transit New Zealand visa applications can be made through accredited agencies and visa application centers. The authorized application center for New Zealand visa applications in Turkey is VFS Global. Due to the pandemic, New Zealand is currently not accepting visa applications; visa applications will be received from July 2022.
Applications for most New Zealand visa types are made through the INZ website, however, transit visa applications can only be made by physically going to the visa application centre. Transit visa applications cannot be made online; therefore, the visa application form must be downloaded and filled in, and submitted in person, or sent by post or e-mail to the visa application centre VFS Global, along with other documents required for the transit visa application, during business hours.
After submitting or sending visa application documents to VFS Global, a visa appointment must be made and the transit visa application must be completed by paying the visa fee and visa service fees on the appointment day.
What are the Required Documents for a New Zealand Transit Visa?
The documents required for a New Zealand transit visa are listed below.
- New Zealand transit visa application form: The visa application form must be filled out completely with correct information and in capital letters and signed by the applicant.
- Visa fee receipt: A receipt showing that the visa fee has been paid is required.
- Passport: A valid passport that is not older than 10 years and has at least 2 blank pages is required.
- Photo: 2 current passport size photographs are required.
- Travel documents: The applicant is required to submit travel documents. Travel documents must show the dates of departure or arrival in the countries in accordance with the travel plan.
- Application petition: For a transit visa application, the applicant must prepare a petition stating the purpose of travel and detailing the travel plan.

The New Zealand transit visa application form must be filled out completely, with correct information, without spelling mistakes and using capital letters. The visa application form requests information such as the name, surname, passport names, gender, date and place of birth, passport number, country of issuance of passport, validity period of passport, nationality, marital status, whether New Zealand has been visited before, contact information and travel documents of the person or persons applying for the transit visa. After filling in, the applicant's photograph must be added to the visa application form and the form must be signed.

New Zealand transit visa appointments are made from VFS Global; however, it is only possible to make an appointment from the Ankara VFS Global office for New Zealand visa applications and visa appointments for New Zealand cannot be made from other VFS Global offices.
To make a visa appointment from VFS Global, first select the visa type and enter the applicant's information. Then, after making an online visa appointment, go to Ankara VFS Global visa center and complete the transit visa application by submitting the documents and paying the visa fees.
