If you are planning to travel to Sri Lanka for treatment, including alternative medicine methods such as yoga, ayurveda or herbal treatments, you will need a treatment visa. Also known as a health visa or medical visa, a Sri Lanka treatment visa can be obtained online or at the airport upon arrival.
The treatment visa, which is one of the tourist Sri Lanka visa types issued for 30 or 180 days upon your request , can be extended up to 270 days if necessary.
How to Get a Sri Lanka Medical Treatment Visa?
You can apply for a Sri Lanka medical treatment visa online before your planned trip through the Sri Lanka Immigration Department website or at the kiosks at the airport provided that you enter through Bandaranaike International Airport.
Online Application Steps for Sri Lanka Medical Visa
For Sri Lanka medical visa, go to http://www.eta.gov.lk/ and click on the “Apply” button from the top menu.
After confirming that you accept the terms and conditions on the page that opens, select the option that suits you under the "Tourist ETA" section in the menu on the left of the page. If you are applying for a Sri Lanka medical visa yourself, select "Apply for an Individual"; if someone else is applying on your behalf, "Apply for a Third Party" should be preferred.
After filling in all the mandatory fields in the application form, select the "Medical Treatment Including Ayuverdic" option opposite the "Purpose of Visit" section in the Sri Lanka treatment visa application form.
After filling the Sri Lanka medical visa application form, pay the visa fee via credit or debit card.
If you are unable to apply for a medical visa through the Sri Lanka Immigration Department website due to a technical reason, you can apply through the Embassy.

If you applied for a medical visa from the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara or the Sri Lanka Immigration Department website, you must pay a visa fee of 50 USD, while for a visa application at the gate at Bandaranaike International Airport, you must pay 60 USD.
