    Health Protection Plan Registration for Sri Lanka Visa

    If you are going to apply for a long-term Sri Lanka visa, you must register for the Health Protection Plan introduced by the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka, effective from 03/06/2019.

    The long-term Sri Lanka visa Health Protection Plan, valid for 1 year , allows you to benefit from certain services in Sri Lanka.

    Who is not required to register for the Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan?

    The following persons do not need to register under the Sri Lanka Health Protection Scheme.

    • Diplomatic passport holders and their families
    • Personnel and their families affiliated with international organizations within the scope of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
    • Personnel affiliated with organizations such as USAID, KOICA, JAICA, US Peace Corps, etc.
    • Persons affiliated with government ministries/departments and projects upon invitation by GOSL
    • Personnel employed as consultants in interstate projects
    • Residence visa applicants in the investor category and their dependants
    • International students under the Presidential Scholarship Program

    Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan Scope

    The Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan coverage consists of health screening and one year of health insurance.

    At the Sri Lanka Health Assessment Centre (IHAC), you will be tested for tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and filariasis. With the Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan, you can access medical assistance (emergency care, outpatient care, treatment for illnesses identified during health assessment at government health institutions) for 1 year.

    The Sri Lankan Health Protection Scheme does not entitle individuals to hospitalization or treatment in private hospitals for non-emergency conditions.

    Sri Lanka Health Protection Scheme Registration Process

    You must apply for the Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan within seven days of entering Sri Lanka. If you wish to renew the Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan, apply one month before your visa expires.

    How Much Is The Sri Lanka Health Protection Scheme Application Fee?

    The Sri Lanka Health Protection Plan application fee is 75 USD.

    Only cash payments in LKR (Sri Lankan rupees) are accepted at the Health Assessment Centre.
